Cataract Surgery

Offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Ada, Elk City, Muskogee and throughout Oklahoma

Cataracts are a clouding of the eye’s naturally clear lens. Symptoms of cataract include gradual, painless decrease in vision sometimes accompanied by glare and haloes at night. When vision is impaired by cataract, the treatment is cataract extraction with lens implant.

Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed eye procedures. These days cataract surgery is frequently called “no stitch, no-patch” due to modern surgical techniques. BVA surgeons are among the most experienced cataract surgeons in Oklahoma.

Lens implantation is replacement of the eye’s natural lens with a man-made lens that allows many patients to achieve excellent vision, both near and far.

Lens replacement -- the crystalens® procedure -- is the newest technology impacting people age 45 to 65 who develop cataracts and who want to be able to see clearly -- near, intermediate and far -- without corrective lenses or eyeglasses.

Dr. Brad Britton with BVA of Edmond was the first in the state to perform what is called the crystalens® procedure, or cataract lens replacement procedure. Since then, Dr. Brad Taylor and Dr. Joshua Powell have been certified to perform the procedure.
