Is LASIK painful?
Is anybody that wears glasses or contacts a LASIK candidate?
Will both my eyes be corrected at the same time?
How soon will I see the results from Lasik?
Will insurance cover my LASIK procedure?
Q:
Is LASIK painful?
A: No. During your LASIK procedure, your ophthalmologist will apply local anesthetic eye-drops so that you will not feel any pain or discomfort during the LASIK procedure. After the LASIK procedure has been performed, you may feel some slight discomfort for a few days while your eyes are healing and you are recovering, but your ophthalmologist will prescribe you with eye-drops and pain medication so that you will be able to handle any discomfort.
Q:
Is anybody that wears glasses or contacts a LASIK candidate?
A: LASIK is a wonderful option for almost all people who wear contacts or prescription glasses. LASIK can be used to treat almost all types of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. For people suffering from extreme refractive errors, other options may be a better option than LASIK, such as implantable contact lenses. The best way to determine if you are a candidate for LASIK is to schedule a free initial consultation with an experienced ophthalmologist from BVA.
Q:
Will both my eyes be corrected at the same time?
A: LASIK is one of the safest laser vision correction eye surgeries performed. The ophthalmologists at BVA use the most advanced lasers, and have years of experience performing many different types of laser vision correction procedures. As a result, LASIK is almost always performed on both eyes during your procedure. If you would like to treat one eye, and then the other at a later point in time, schedule a free initial consultation with a BVA ophthalmologist in your area.
Q:
How soon will I see the results?
A: LASIK vision correction results can usually be seen within the first 24 hours after your procedure. For the first few weeks after your procedure, your vision may fluctuate as a result of the healing and recovery process. For some patients, it can take as long as six to eight weeks before their vision reaches a state of consistency.
Q:
Will insurance cover my LASIK procedure?
A: For the most part, insurance companies consider LASIK and other laser vision correction techniques as elective procedures, and do not cover them. However, some insurance companies may cover all or part of the cost of your LASIK procedure. If you need assistance paying for your LASIK procedure, BVA provides various financing options that will make your LASIK procedure fit within your budget.
If you are considering LASIK and would like to address any unanswered questions with an experienced ophthalmologist, contact BVA today to schedule your laser vision correction consultation.
