Dr. Joshua Powell, M.D., is a board-certified refractive surgeon for BVA Advanced Eye Center. After graduating Magna Cum Laude form the University of Texas-Dallas, he earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Powell became an award winning medical practitioner early in his career. While interning at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, he received the William K. Warren Best Intern Award. During his residency at the Kresge Eye Institute within the Detroit Medical Center at Wayne State University, Dr. Powell served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Lawrence Stocker Award for Compassionate Medicine.
Dr. Powell's work is well-respected within the medical community. He has been published in medical journals as well as medical textbooks. He specializes in advanced laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery with presbyopia-correcting lens implant.
Dr. Powell is certified throughout the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
