Advanced Eye Care among 25 “Best Places to Work”
BVA Advanced Eye Care is among 25 winners of the inaugural
“2006 Best Places to Work in Oklahoma.”
The initiative is dedicated to finding and recognizing
Oklahoma’s best employers, said Lisa Meoli with OKC Business
publication, sponsor of the event along with the Best
Companies Group, the Oklahoma State Human Resource Council,
The State Chamber, Career Tech, Oklahoma Center for
Nonprofit Management and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber
of Commerce.
The selection analysis was conducted by Modern Think LLC, a
workplace excellence consulting firm, and was based on
collected data and internal employee surveys. This statewide
competition sets out to motivate local workplace
environments toward excellence.
BVA Advanced Eye Care, an ophthalmology group based in
Edmond, has a high degree of customer commitment. That
philosophy begins with the employee.
Feel-good corporate culture means good customer service,
particularly important in the highly competitive medical
industry, said BVA executive director Sandy Boles. For BVA,
that’s a critical point when 400 people a day come through
their offices statewide.
Team-building and morale boosting go on year-round at BVA.
Employees enjoy an all-out Halloween costume contest,
company-sponsored nights at a Red Hawks game and
participation in National Take Your Daughter or Son to Work
Day, which was celebrated April 24.
The company has begun celebrating its 10th year in business
and, earlier this year, honored employees an entire week.
They were given back massages for each team as a “pat on the
back,” mystery puzzles with hidden feel-good messages,
metallic stars with employee names, popcorn buckets and
candy bars.
BVA is no small company. It employs 108 people in seven
offices statewide, serving eye care customers in 44 towns or
locations. The $12 million company is the largest
ophthalmology group in the state for cataract surgeries.
